MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Montevallo men's basketball extended its winning streak to seven games after topping Christian Brothers, 75-66, on Saturday evening.
 
The two sides traded buckets for the first two minutes before the Falcons used a 6-0 run with buckets from Jaylen Curry, Bryant James and Brandon Fussell to take an 11-6 lead with 14:36 before the break. CBU ended the run in the next possession but Devon McKinnon nailed a three from the top of the key to push UM to a 14-7 lead. Another quick run from the Falcons with five points from Fussell stretched the Falcons' lead to 21-9 at the 10:50 mark. A 12-4 Bucs run over three minutes cut the Falcons' lead down to just four at 34-30 with 3:44 left in the half. A pair of free throws from James kept the Falcons out in front before Curry finished the first half scoring with a finish at the rim to carry a 40-34 Montevallo lead into the break.
 
McKinnon opened the second half scoring with a three to give UM a nine-point advantage. With 15:36 to go, CBU sliced the Falcons' lead down to one at 45-44 after an 8-0 run from the Bucs. Just over a minute later, CBU tied the game at 47-47 with a three before taking a 50-49 lead with 12:43 to play. The Falcons knocked down three-straight threes with a pair of Fussell and one from Sam Duskin but CBU hung around to give Montevallo just a four-point lead with under 10 minutes to go. The Falcons held a slim lead for the next five minutes before Fussell knocked down another triple after a Tyson Sexton finish at the rim to give Montevallo a 69-62 lead with 4:30 on the clock. McKinnon extended Montevallo's advantage to 73-64 with just over two minutes left on the clock. Both sides scored just two points down the stretch as Montevallo held on for a 75-66 win over the Bucs.

• The Falcons shot the ball well with a 54.7-percent clip from the floor while going 40.9 percent from deep and shooting 8-for-10 at the stripe.
• Montevallo struggled on the glass with just 24 rebounds on the day while CBU ripped down 33 boards.
• The Falcons controlled the paint with a 34-18 lead in points inside while adding 14 points on 12 CBU turnovers.
• Brandon Fussell finished with 29 points on 11-of-15 shooting while going 5-for-5 from deep with three assists, 2 blocks and 2 rebounds.
• Freshman Devon McKinnon scored 14 points on 5-of-9 shooting while picking up a pair of boards.
• Jaylen Curry tallied 13 points on 5-for-11 shooting while leading the team with five rebounds.
