MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team hits the road for its second consecutive in-state GSC series this weekend, traveling to face No. 5 West Alabama in Livingston. First pitch for Friday's opener is scheduled for 5:00 p.m., with Saturday's doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Montevallo earned a series win over UAH last weekend, taking two of three from the Chargers. The Falcons' offense came alive in the series, hitting .359 as a team while scoring 29 runs with eight doubles, two triples, and four home runs. Montevallo will look to rebound after dropping a midweek matchup to Spring Hill on Tuesday.
West Alabama enters the weekend with a 19-3 overall record and a 10-2 mark in GSC play. The Tigers are ranked as high as No. 5 nationally by the ABCA, while also holding the No. 10 spot in the D2 Baseball poll, No. 9 in the NCBWA rankings, and No. 19 by Perfect Game. UWA took two of three from Valdosta State last weekend before earning a 16-9 midweek victory over William Carey on Tuesday night.
At the plate, the Tigers lead the GSC with a .328 team batting average to go along with 17 home runs and a .471 slugging percentage. Nick Wilson paces the offense with a .395 average, five home runs, and 27 RBI. Rashad Robinson is hitting .351 with 26 hits, seven doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 10 stolen bases, while Hudson Walburn carries a .329 average with 21 RBI.
On the mound, West Alabama leads the conference with a 3.34 team ERA and has recorded 165 strikeouts compared to 84 walks. Opponents are hitting just .219 against Tiger pitching this season. Senior righthander Baker Green (3-0, 2.67 ERA) is expected to start Friday's opener after earning NCBWA South Region Pitcher of the Week honors on Wednesday. Freshman Blake Westry (3-0, 1.29 ERA) is slated to start Game 2, while Colin Woodham (2-0, 3.14 ERA) will take the ball in Saturday's series finale.
