Falcons Claim Ranked Road Win Over No. 5 West Alabama in Doubleheader Split

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team earned another ranked win on Saturday, downing No. 5 West Alabama, 4-3, in extra innings in the nightcap of a doubleheader. The Tigers claimed the opener, 5-2.

Game 1 | Montevallo 2, No. 5 West Alabama 5

The hosts jumped out to an early lead with a three-run first inning. Hollon Brock got a run back in the third with a solo home run, his second of the season.

West Alabama responded with a run of its own in the bottom half of the inning, but Evan Radford continued his strong weekend at the plate with a solo home run in the fourth to trim the deficit to 4-2.

The Tigers added another run in the eighth, and the Falcons could draw no closer as West Alabama secured the 5-2 win.

Game 2 | Montevallo 4, No. 5 West Alabama 3 (8 Inn.)

The Falcons flipped the script in the nightcap, plating three runs in the top of the second inning to take an early lead. Evan Radford came home to score on a Tiger error before Dominic Maldet drove in another run with an RBI groundout. Caleb Karll later crossed the plate on another West Alabama error to push the Falcon advantage to 3-0.

West Alabama answered with three runs across the fifth and sixth innings to even the game at 3-3, and neither team broke through in the seventh as the contest moved to extra innings.
Montevallo delivered in the eighth when Hollon Brock plated the go-ahead run on a fielder's choice to give the Falcons a 4-3 lead.

The Tigers put the tying run on base in the bottom half, but Matthew Bullard slammed the door to secure the victory and the Falcons' third top-10 win of the season.
