Tennis Caps Perfect Weekend with Senior Day Sweep

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's tennis teams capped off a perfect weekend on the courts with a pair of wins on Senior Day. The Falcon women rolled to their second consecutive 7-0 victory, while the men dominated the Badgers 6-1.

The Falcon women were in control from start to finish, sweeping doubles play and winning all six singles matches. Montevallo secured the doubles point with victories on all three courts. Klara Podskubkova and Claire Jaramba opened with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Sophia Baillos and Latizia Bojara defeated their opponents 7-5, and Anna Nevada Henriksen and Ella De Jesus closed out the sweep with a 6-3 victory at No. 3.

In singles, the Falcons maintained their dominance. Claire Jaramba claimed a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1, followed by Sophia Baillos' 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2. At No. 3 singles, Anna Nevada Henriksen battled through the day's most competitive match, defeating Brooke Powers 6-0, 3-6, 6-2. Montevallo also earned straight-set wins from Andrea Cano at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1), Latizia Bojara at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0), and Ella De Jesus at No. 6 (6-2, 6-3) to complete the shutout.

The Falcon men followed suit with a strong performance, capturing the doubles point and five of six singles matches. Montevallo won two of the three doubles contests to start the day. Simon Luigs and Guilherme Gracioli earned a 6-4 victory at No. 2, while Ryota Nakajima and Filippo Mignani dominated No. 3 with a 6-0 win.

In singles, Gracioli earned the Falcons' first point with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2. One of the day's most dramatic matches came at No. 3, where Edgar Dufresne rallied after losing the first set to defeat Tom Ruel 5-7, 7-6 (8), 6-3. Montevallo also received strong performances from Leonidas Lazarides at No. 4 (6-1, 6-4), Luiz Gobbi at No. 5 (6-1, 6-1), and Simon Luigs at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0).

UP NEXT: The Falcons host Valdosta State on Tuesday afternoon for their Sea of Purple match. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
