MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's tennis teams fell to visiting Valdosta State on Tuesday afternoon at the Montevallo Tennis Court Complex. The Falcon women were defeated 6-1 by the No. 35 Blazers, while the men's team dropped a closely contested 4-3 decision.
On the women's side, Valdosta State secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. In singles, No. 57 Klara Podskubkova continued her strong 2026 campaign with a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 victory over Lena Beckx at the No. 1 spot, earning the lone Falcon point. Claire Jaramba battled in a three-set match at No. 2 but ultimately fell 6-0, 5-7, 3-6.
The UM men got off to a strong start by claiming the doubles point. Samuel Maia and Luiz Gobbi defeated Philipp Bosse and Pietro Casciola 6-4, while Christian Bacher and Leonidas Lazarides topped Wilson Igbinovia and Emile Delporte 6-4.
In singles, Bacher earned a 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Igbinovia at No. 2, and Guilherme Gracioli defeated Jan Thissen 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3. Despite these wins, the Falcons dropped the final three singles matches, giving Valdosta State the 4-3 team victory.
UP NEXT: Montevallo returns home to conclude a three-match homestand on Saturday against Mississippi College. First serve is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
