YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Montevallo baseball team secured a 6-3 victory over No. 14 Young Harris on Wednesday afternoon, scoring three runs in the opening inning to set the tone.
The Falcons wasted no time jumping in front.
Evan Radford brought home the game's first run with a sacrifice fly before
Hollon Brock followed with an RBI single to left.
Caleb Karll capped the inning with an RBI double to give Montevallo an early 3-0 advantage.
Karll continued his strong performance at the plate in the third inning, driving in another run with his second double of the game.
Mason Woolever added an RBI single to right later in the frame to extend the Falcons' lead to 5-0.
Young Harris responded with two runs in the bottom half of the third to cut into the deficit, but Montevallo's pitching staff held the Mountain Lions in check over the middle innings. The score remained unchanged until the eighth, when
Hudson Allen delivered an RBI double to push the lead to 6-2.
The Mountain Lions answered with a run in the bottom of the inning, but
Mitchell Rhodes shut the door late, recording the final four outs to earn the save and secure the Falcons' fifth ranked win of the season.
