Allen’s Walk-Off Caps Wild Comeback, Clinches Series Over Lee

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team secured its second consecutive series win in dramatic fashion Saturday, storming back for a 16-15 victory over Lee in a decisive Game 3 at Kermit A. Johnson Field at Bob Riesener Stadium. The Falcons erased a 13-run deficit over the final two frames to complete the comeback.

Game 1 | Montevallo 3, Lee 21

Lee seized control early, plating 10 runs in the opening inning. Montevallo answered with an RBI groundout from Evan Radford in the bottom half, but the Flames added two more in the second to extend their lead.

Radford launched his ninth home run of the season in the third, but Lee continued to pull away with a six-run fourth inning, ultimately securing a run-rule victory in the opener.

Game 2 | Montevallo 16, Lee 15

Lee once again jumped out front, scoring two runs in the first and three in the second. Montevallo got on the board in the bottom of the second with an RBI groundout from Hudson Allen.

The Flames extended their advantage with four runs in the third and another in the fifth to take a 10-1 lead. An RBI double from Ian Cartwright cut into the deficit, making it 10-2 after five innings. Lee responded with five runs in the sixth to build a commanding 15-2 lead, but the Falcons refused to go quietly.

Dominic Maldet sparked the rally with a two-run double in the sixth, and Cartwright followed with an RBI single. Back-to-back RBI doubles from McGwire Turner and Radford trimmed the deficit, and Hollon Brock capped the seven-run inning with an RBI single to cut the score to 15-9 heading into the final frame.

After a scoreless top of the seventh, the Falcons' comeback efforts continued as the first three batters reached base before Joel Chandler drove in a run with an infield single. A bases-loaded walk to Cartwright brought home another, and consecutive walks to Radford and Brock made it 15-13. A wild pitch plated Cartwright to pull Montevallo within one.

With two runners in scoring position, Hudson Allen delivered on the first pitch he saw, lining a single to left to score Preston Bedford and Radford, completing the stunning walk-off comeback and securing the series.
