MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team returns to GSC play this weekend as the Falcons travel to Huntsville to face in-state foe UAH in a three-game series. Friday's doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m., with the series finale set for Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Montevallo returns to conference action after dropping a high-scoring 12-11 decision to Columbus State in a midweek matchup on Tuesday. Despite the loss, the Falcons totaled 18 hits at the plate. McGwire Turner, Christian Kallaher, and Caleb Karll each recorded three hits in the contest, while Matthew Bullard tossed 1.1 scoreless innings in relief and added a strikeout.
UAH enters the weekend with a 7-11 overall record and a 4-5 mark in GSC play. The Chargers picked up a midweek victory over Tennessee Southern after dropping two of three to Valdosta State last weekend.
Offensively, UAH is led by Caleb Mahan, who is batting .404 with 21 hits, three doubles, and 16 RBI. Jayce Upton (.381) and Seth Staggs (.340) are also hitting above the .300 mark entering the series. As a team, the Chargers are batting .280 and rank second in the conference in stolen bases, going 41-for-49 on the basepaths.
On the mound, UAH carries a 7.80 team ERA with 131 strikeouts and 104 walks. Cole Loftis (1-1, 4.13 ERA) is expected to start the series opener and leads the team in both innings pitched (24.0) and strikeouts (22). Righthanders Jaxon Hay (0-2, 6.89 ERA) and Colin Patterson (1-2, 17.28 ERA) are projected to start the final two games of the series. Defensively, the Chargers hold a .957 fielding percentage and have thrown out 20 of 72 attempted base stealers.
