HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team picked up a decisive road victory on Saturday, defeating UAH 14-4 in run-rule fashion to secure the series.
UAH jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the opening inning, but the Falcons responded in the third, scoring three runs to tie the game.
Jack Fitzgerald drove in the first Falcon run with a base hit to right field, bringing home
Ian Cartwright, who had opened the inning with a double.
Evan Radford added Montevallo's second run of the frame on a fielder's choice, followed by
Matthew Widra's RBI single to right to knot the game at three apiece. The Chargers briefly regained the lead in the bottom of the third, but Montevallo answered once again in the fourth when Cartwright delivered an RBI single to even the score.
Widra gave the Falcons the advantage with an RBI double in the fifth, and
Hollon Brock extended the lead with a single up the middle two batters later, putting Montevallo ahead 6-4.
The Falcons broke the game open in the sixth inning, plating three runs on a Charger error and a two-run single from
Caleb Karll to take a 9-4 lead. Brock kept the momentum going with a two-run double down the left-field line and later scored on an error, stretching the lead to 12-4.
Radford capped the scoring in the seventh with his third home run of the season, a shot to straightaway center that brought home two more runs and extended the Falcon lead to ten. Montevallo retired the Chargers in the bottom half to secure the run-rule victory.

- Matthew Widra recorded three hits in four at-bats, including a double, a triple, and two RBI.

- Reid Gongwer earned the win in relief, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings while allowing three hits.
