MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team hits the road this weekend for a three-game GSC series against Delta State in Cleveland, Miss. First pitch for Thursday's opener is set for 5:00 p.m., followed by a Friday doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Montevallo enters the series with strong momentum, having won nine of its last 11 contests. The Falcons continued their hot stretch with a 10-6 midweek victory over Shorter. McGwire Turner powered the offense with two home runs, while Mason Woolever and Ian Cartwright each recorded three hits. On the mound, Landon Alton was dominant in relief, allowing just one hit over the final 3.0 innings to secure the win.
Delta State comes into the weekend with a 19-13 overall record and a 13-8 mark in conference play. The Statesmen are riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping UAH and earning a 14-10 win over Henderson State on Tuesday. Offensively, DSU is batting .289 as a team, led by Tucker Jones, who is hitting .369 with seven doubles, one triple, six home runs, 46 RBI, and 22 stolen bases. Austin Estes has matched that .369 average, adding four doubles, two triples, and 15 RBI.
On the mound, Delta State holds a 5.47 team ERA with a 1.62 WHIP, striking out 143 batters while issuing 101 walks. Left-hander Adrian Byrd (4-0, 2.39 ERA) is expected to start Thursday's opener. Senior right-hander Blake King (2-2, 5.76 ERA) is slated for the first game of Friday's doubleheader, with Mason Shropshire (2-2, 4.94 ERA) set to take the ball in the series finale.
