CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Montevallo men's and women's tennis teams put together strong efforts on the road Friday, but both squads came up short against Delta State at Cleveland Country Club. The Falcon men dropped a narrow 4-3 decision, while the women fell 5-2.

The Montevallo women opened the day on a high note by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Klara Podskubkova and Claire Jaramba led the way with a commanding 6-2 victory over Amelia Cieselczyk and Yasmina Mayer at No. 1, while Latizia Bojara and Anna Nevada Henriksen battled to a 7-5 win against Lena Kuehn and Angie Moreno at No. 3.

In singles play, Andrea Cano highlighted the effort with a hard-fought three-set win at No. 5, defeating Moreno 6-1, 6-7 (3), 10-8. Despite the strong start, Delta State rallied by winning four completed singles matches and benefitted from two retirements to secure the 5-2 team victory.

On the men's side, the Falcons also claimed the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Luiz Gobbi and Samuel Maia teamed up for a 6-4 win over Valentin Greco and Valentino Millimaci, while No. 36 Guilherme Gracioli and Simon Luigs rolled to a 6-2 victory against Juan Diego Alzate and Joaquin Jarochevsky.

Montevallo carried that momentum into singles, where Maia picked up a straight-sets win at No. 2. Dufresne added another point with a three-set victory at No. 5 (6-3, 2-6, 6-4). However, Delta State answered by taking four singles courts to edge the Falcons in a tightly contested 4-3 match.
