CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Montevallo men's and women's tennis teams were defeated by nationally-ranked Lee on Sunday afternoon at the DeVos Tennis Center. The UM women fell 5-2 to the No. 29-ranked Lady Flames, while the Falcon men were swept 7-0 by the No. 12 Flames.
In the women's match, Lee secured an early advantage by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Anna Nevada Henriksen and Latizia Bojara held a 5-3 lead in their doubles match when the point was clinched.
In singles play, No. 72 Klara Podskubkova and Claire Jaramba each pushed their ranked opponents to three sets but came up just short. Nevada Henriksen earned a strong 6-1, 6-3 victory over Vitoria Maximiliano at the No. 4 position, while Bojara battled to a 3-6, 6-4, 16-14 win at No. 6 against Nicolette Fuhr. Lee secured the match by taking victories at the No. 3 and No. 5 spots.
On the men's side, the No. 12 Flames claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The Falcons showed fight in singles, with Samuel Maia and Guilherme Gracioli each forcing three-set matches at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. However, Lee ultimately completed the sweep, winning all six singles courts.
UP NEXT: The Falcons close out the regular season on Friday, April 17, with a 1:00 p.m. match in Montgomery against AUM.
