MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Hollon Brock went 5-for-5 in Saturday's opener and delivered a walk-off three-run homer in the finale to lead Montevallo to a series sweep over Christian Brothers. With the sweep, the Falcons have now won four consecutive GSC series.
Game 1 | Montevallo 10, Christian Brothers 7
Montevallo wasted no time getting on the board in the opener.
Ian Cartwright led off with a triple and came home on an RBI double from
McGwire Turner.
Jack Fitzgerald followed with an RBI double of his own, while
Caleb Karll added a sacrifice fly and
Hudson Allen capped the early surge with an RBI single to give the Falcons a 4-0 lead.
Turner extended the advantage in the second with an RBI single to make it 5-0. Christian Brothers got on the board with a solo homer in the third, but Turner answered again in the fourth with a two-run shot to push the lead to 7-1.
The Buccaneers chipped away with a homer in the fifth and two runs in the sixth, but Montevallo responded each time. Fitzgerald and Brock delivered RBI singles in the fifth, and Brock added his fifth hit of the game, an RBI single to right, in the seventh.
Christian Brothers threatened late with runs in the eighth and ninth, but
Mitchell Rhodes closed the door in the ninth to earn his third save and secure the 10-7 win.

Montevallo struck first in the nightcap, as
Ian Cartwright singled home
Mason Woolever in the third inning. Christian Brothers responded with four runs in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead.
The Falcons began to chip away in the sixth, cutting the deficit to two on a sacrifice fly from
Hudson Allen. In the final frame,
McGwire Turner worked a two-out walk, and
Jack Fitzgerald followed with an infield single to set the stage for
Hollon Brock.
Brock delivered the decisive blow, launching a walk-off three-run homer to center field to give Montevallo a 5-4 victory and complete the series sweep, its second conference sweep of the season.
