MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Montevallo men's and women's tennis teams closed out the regular season on Friday afternoon with losses at Auburn Montgomery. The Falcon women fell 6-1, while the UM men were defeated 7-0.
In the women's match, Montevallo dropped the doubles point, despite a win at No. 3 from Anna Nevada Henriksen and Latizia Bojara, who earned a 6-3 victory.
Bojara accounted for the Falcons' lone point in singles play, cruising to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Valeria Garcia Chavez at No. 6. Klara Podskubkova and Nevada Henriksen each pushed their matches to a third set but ultimately came up short.
On the men's side, AUM secured the doubles point by winning the first two matches. In singles action, Luiz Gobbi forced a third set against Augustin Wallaert before falling 2-6, 6-3, 10-0.
With the regular season complete, both teams have earned the No. 8 seed in the GSC Tournament, set for Thursday, Apr. 23, through Saturday, Apr. 25. The Falcon men will face top-seeded West Florida at 11:00 a.m., while the women will take on No. 1 seed Mississippi College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
