MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo men's tennis team opens postseason play Thursday with a quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded and GSC regular-season champion West Florida. First serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center.
The Falcons enter the three-day tournament as the No. 8 seed.
Guilherme Gracioli led the lineup with four singles wins during the regular season, while the doubles team of
Christian Bacher and
Leonidas Lazarides posted a 6-5 record to pace Montevallo. Gracioli also teamed with
Simon Luigs to earn a No. 39 national doubles ranking, posting a 5-5 mark.
West Florida brings a 21-1 record into the tournament and enters on an 18-match winning streak. The Argonauts are ranked No. 1 nationally by the ITA and feature a strong lineup led by No. 2 Sebastian Rondon and No. 3 Diego Duran. Rafael Sabio (No. 46) and Mateo Martinez (No. 72) also appear in the latest ITA singles rankings, while Rondon and Duran form the nation's top-ranked doubles duo.
