MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team earned a pair of one-run victories on Friday to secure a series victory over AUM. The Falcons used a pair of comeback efforts to earn a 3-2 win in game one, followed by a 4-3 win in game two.
Game 1 | Montevallo 3, AUM 2
AUM struck first in game one with a two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning.
The Falcons began to pick up the momentum in the bottom of the eighth, as Joel Chandler singled and Ian Cartwright reached on an error to put a pair of runners in scoring position with one out. A Jack Fitzgerald RBI-single brought home Chandler and a Hollon Brock RBI-single brought home Cartwright, tying the game at two runs apiece. Hudson Allen broke the tie, hitting an RBI-double to score Preston Bedford, putting the Falcons ahead for the first time, 3-2.
Gene Blackmon sat the Warhawks down in order in the top of the ninth to secure the Montevallo victory in the series opener.

The Warhawks struck first once again in game two, as a two-run home run gave AUM an early 2-0 advantage in the top of the third inning.
Montevallo responded in the bottom of the fourth, as McGwire Turner led off with a double and later scored on a wild pitch. Hudson Allen added a sac-fly to score Hollon Brock, tying the game at two runs apiece.
AUM tacked on a run in the top of the fifth inning to regain the lead, 3-2. Caleb Karll provided a quick response for Montevallo, leading the bottom half of the fifth with a solo home run to tie the game, 3-3.
Jack Fitzgerald added a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the sixth to put the Falcons ahead, 4-3.
Landon Alton shut the door on the Warhawks in the top of the seventh to secure the series victory for Montevallo.
