MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Montevallo baseball team opens play at the Gulf South Conference Tournament on Friday afternoon in Oxford, Ala., facing No. 6 seed Trevecca. First pitch from Choccolocco Park is set for 2:30 p.m. The opening round will be single-elimination, with the remainder of the tournament shifting to a double-elimination format.

Montevallo heads into the postseason with a 27-23 overall record (18-15 GSC) as the No. 7 seed, carrying strong momentum after winning four straight to close the regular season, highlighted by a three-game sweep of AUM. Shortstop
Joel Chandler earned GSC Freshman of the Week honors after an impressive 8-for-12 week at the plate with a triple and two RBI. The Falcons also saw three players recognized on the All-GSC teams, as
Zach Wyatt and
Jack Fitzgerald were named to the First Team, while
Hudson Allen earned Second Team honors at second base.
Trevecca earned the No. 6 seed with a 30-19 overall record (19-14 GSC). Offensively, the Trojans are hitting .296/.399/.472 on the year, led by Cade Martin, who is batting .429 with 12 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, and 41 RBI.
On the mound, Trevecca holds a 5.18 team ERA with a 1.50 WHIP. Right-hander Logan Harrell (7-4, 3.53 ERA) is expected to start Friday's opener after tossing 6.0 scoreless innings against Montevallo on Feb. 28.
