COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Montevallo women's and men's tennis teams faced a tough road test Tuesday afternoon at the Walden Tennis Center, falling to nationally ranked Columbus State squads. The Falcon women dropped a 6-1 decision to the No. 18 Lady Cougars, while the men fell 7-0 to No. 5 CSU.
On the women's side, Montevallo came out strong in doubles play, securing the opening point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The tandem of Claire Jaramba and Klara Podskubkova earned a 6-4 victory at the top spot, while Anna Nevada Henriksen and Latizia Bojara matched that scoreline at No. 3 to give the Falcons an early 1-0 advantage.
Columbus State answered in singles play, however, winning all six matches to claim the overall victory. Montevallo continued to compete throughout the lineup, but the Lady Cougars maintained control to secure the 6-1 result.
In the men's match, Columbus State set the tone early by sweeping all three doubles contests to take the opening point. The Cougars carried that momentum into singles play, capturing all six matches in straight sets to complete the 7-0 sweep.
UP NEXT: The Falcons return to GSC play on Friday, Apr. 10 with a road matchup at Delta State. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
