GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas has announced its 2025-26 Winter Scholar-Athletes of the Year for each sport, with Montevallo's
Keara McGee earning the honor for women's swimming and
Ben Johnson being selected for men's swimming.
McGee claims the award for the second consecutive year following an outstanding senior season where she held a 3.83 cumulative GPA as a Mass Communication and Marketing major. The St. Augustine, Fla. native adds this recognition to an already impressive list of postseason honors, including CSC Academic All-District, All-Conference Carolinas First Team, and Conference Carolinas All-Academic accolades. She captured four conference titles this season, winning both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly while also contributing to first-place finishes in the 200- and 400-yard medley relays, helping lead the Falcons to a runner-up team finish.
Johnson, a finance and Spanish major, earned the men's honor after a strong senior campaign of his own while maintaining a 3.86 cumulative GPA. He played a key role in guiding the Falcons to a Conference Carolinas championship, highlighted by a victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 1:52.19. He also recorded top-five finishes in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley. Johnson has previously been recognized as an All-Conference First Team selection and a CSC Academic All-District honoree.
According to the Conference Carolinas, nominees for the award must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher while also earning both all-conference and academic all-conference recognition.
