JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Head Coach Trey Gregory began his career as Montevallo's head coach with a 4-1 victory on the road at Carson-Newman on Saturday afternoon.

Karsyn Ross broke through off an assist from
Lainey Farabaugh to give the Falcons and early lead. Just three minutes later, Ross found
Ayla Ertekin in the box where the 2025 Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year pushed UM's lead to 2-0. The first half ended with just one shot in the final 25 minutes to send the game to the break with Montevallo on top.
Veteran defender
Shelby Irwin found her first goal of the season in the 54
th minute to give the Falcons a three-goal cushion early in the second half. Carson-Newman answered just three minutes later to bring the lead down to two. Farabaugh punctuated Montevallo's season-opening offensive statement with a 74
th-minute goal that made the score 4-1. Goalkeeper
Jolie Cazale added a pair of saves in the final few minutes to secure Montevallo's victory to open the season.
