CLINTON, Miss. – Montevallo split the first day of the GSC/PBC Crossover on Friday with a 3-2 win over Augusta to start the day before falling to Flagler in three sets in the final game of the day.
GAME ONE RECAP
The opening set of Montevallo's win over Augusta saw the Falcons fall in a 29-27 battle to start the day.
Eliza Tyrrell led Montevallo with five kills in the first set on a .444 hitting mark while
Ava Wind posted a team-high 10 digs but five aces from Augusta and a late 3-1 run left UM in a 1-0 hole after the first set.
The Falcons then responded with a 25-12 win in set two with a total of seven kills and three aces to knot the score at 1-1. UM took an early lead with an 11-2 run with eight Augusta errors before UM stretched the lead to 21-4 with back-to-back kills from
Mallory Hulsey and
Katie Wilkerson before a pair of AU errors gave Montevallo the set win.
UM took the lead with a 25-22 win in set three with 14 kills on a .200 hitting percentage while adding 14 digs.
Katie Wilkerson led Montevallo to its set three win with seven kills on a .600 hitting mark with Robbins posting seven assists.
The Falcons fell in the fourth set, 25-12, with Augusta holding a 16-4 lead in kills while hitting .378 in the fourth.
The fifth set saw Montevallo jump out to a 7-2 lead with five Augusta errors and points from Wilkerson and Wind. Later in the fifth,
Ellise Hanson pushed Montevallo's lead to 12-6 with her first kill of the set before Montevallo secured the win with a 15-11 win.

GAME TWO RECAP
Flagler took the opening set of Montevallo's second game of the day by a score of 25-16 after leading with 14 kills on a .235 hitting mark while holding UM to just four.
Set two saw Montevallo's offense improve with seven kills while holding the Saints to nine but 11 errors from Montevallo left the Falcons trailing 2-0 heading into the third set.
The final set of game two saw the Falcons fall 25-9 with the Saints holding UM to just two kills to give Montevallo its third loss of the season.
