CLINTON, Miss. – After dropping the first set, Montevallo volleyball won three-consecutive sets for a win over USC Aiken to close the GSC/PBC Crossover with a 2-1 record.
The opening set saw the two sides evenly matched with 10 kills apiece before USC Aiken scored two-straight to take a 26-24 win.
Katie Wilkerson led Montevallo's offense with three kills in the first while
Blakeley Robbins opened her day with five assists.
Set two saw Montevallo take a 25-19 win behind 17 kills and 17 assists while adding three aces and 10 digs. Robbins conducted Montevallo's attack with 10 assists while
Lilly Singleton scored seven points with four kills and three aces.
The third set featured 13 Montevallo kills while 10 digs held the Pacers to just a .028 hitting percentage to take a 2-1 lead overall with a 25-16 win. Robbins added six more assists in the third with Wilkerson again leading with four kills. Defensively,
Ava Wind tallied six of Montevallo's 10 digs in the third set.
The Falcons posted four aces and 13 kills in the final set of the day to lead Montevallo to a 25-19 win.
Ellie Scharlow's top set of the morning saw the freshman post a team-high four assists while five more assists from Robbins set a new season high for the setter with 26.
