MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Montevallo volleyball improves to 2-0 on the season after taking a 3-1 win over Christian Brothers on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons dropped the first set of the day, 25-18, with Montevallo posting a total of 11 errors in the opening set but recorded 26 digs on the defensive end. Freshman
Ellie Scharlow led Montevallo's attack in the opening set with four kills on a .133 hitting percentage while adding six digs.
Mae Mae Beatty led Montevallo in the first set with eight digs on the back line.
In a tightly contested second set, Montevallo added 17 kills on a .256 hitting percentage to take the second by a score of 25-23 while the Lady Bucs hit .225 in the second set with 11 kills. Set no. 2 saw
Katie Wilkerson post a team-high six kills in the second on a .231 hitting mark while Wind added another four digs alongside Beatty who also had four.
Set No. 3 mirrored the second set with a 25-23 Montevallo victory with the Falcons holding a 15-11 advantage in kills while adding 18 digs to hold CBU to a .244 hitting percentage. A pair of Falcons posted four kills in the third second in Wilkerson and
Eliza Tyrrell. Beatty set a game high for UM with a pair of aces in the third set while Wind posted five digs.
The Falcons dominated the fourth and final set of the day by a score of 25-13 with Montevallo holding CBU to just five kills on a negative hitting percentage after recording 20 digs. Montevallo's 13 kills in the final set came from multiple Falcons with Wilkerson posting a team-high three in the fourth.

- Montevallo held a 56-42 advantage in kills but CBU's offense led with a .185 hitting percentage while UM posted a .148 mark.
- The Falcons posted a total of 81 digs while CBU added 72 but the Bucs defense added 18 blocks to just three from Montevallo.
- Katie Wilkerson led Montevallo's offense for the second game in a row with 15 kills on a .136 mark while adding five assists and two digs.
- Freshman Ellie Scharlow had an all-around night with eight kills, 13 digs, two aces and a block assist.
- Defensively, Ava Wind and Mae Mae Beatty combined for 38 of Montevallo's digs with Wind posting 21 and Beatty adding 17.
