AIKEN, S.C. – Montevallo took a dominant win over Lander in a 3-0 sweep to move to 4-1 on the season in a neutral site bout at the USC Aiken Invitational.
The first set of the afternoon featured a tight 25-23 Montevallo win with the Falcons posted 13 kills to 11 from Lander with Eliza Tyrell leading Montevallo with four kills in the opening set. Set 2 saw the Falcons hold the Bearcats to just seven points on a negative hitting percentage while UM hit .520 in the second four Falcons recording multiple kills en route to a 25-7 win for Montevallo. Montevallo's 25-12 game-clinching win in the third and final set mirrored set two with just four kills from Lander while Montevallo tallied 15 with a game-high six kills from Tyrrell to give Montevallo a victory in day one of the USC Aiken Invitational.
