TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Despite a big second half comeback, the University of Montevallo men's basketball team dropped an overtime matchup to Stillman College, 74-71.

The game opened up with each side making a three-point basket and then going on a run. Stillman was able to gain the early advantage after a 6-0 run made it 9-3 in their favor. Montevallo would respond with an 8-0 run that put the visitors on top.

The Tigers would go on to take a 14 point lead to halftime after a 34-18 run to close the opening frame.

Montevallo would come storming back, though. The Falcons were able to shoot over 40% from both the field and from beyond the arc in the second half, while holding the home team to just 31.8% shooting.

UM had a run, going on a 24-7 run over a span of just more than 10 minutes, to tie the game up with 7:38 left to play.

The two teams traded the lead throughout the remainder of regulation, but neither side could hold on. Malik Fields made two free throws with just two seconds showing on the clock, forcing overtime.

In overtime, the Tigers outscored the Falcons 7-4 and earned the narrow three point win, 74-71.

Shykeem Jackson led Montevallo with 24 points. The senior played all but one minute in the game and made more than half of his shots from the floor, including six of his nine three-pointers.

Fields and Ryan May each had 12 points.

Larry Slaughter finished one rebound shy of yet another double-double, ending the game with 10 points and a team-high nine boards.

Reigning PBC Player of the Week Troran Brown chipped in five points and led the team with six assists.

The Falcons will begin conference play this week, traveling to Florence, S.C. to take on Francis Marion on Thursday, December 18.
