YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – University of Montevallo juniors Jacquelyn Thompson and Katherine Goldsby finished with double figures but it wasn't enough in a 60-49 setback on the road at Young Harris College in a Peach Belt Conference contest Jan. 14.
Thompson paced the Falcons (1-13 overall, 0-7 in Peach Belt Conference) with 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. Goldsby, who grabbed five rebounds and dished out a team-high five assists, added 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field.
Senior Carrington Caise contributed eight points on 4-of-7 shooting from the floor. Juniors Jasmine Thomas and Katie Colson chipped in five points each.
Freshman Katija Tarailo grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.
Montevallo erased a 29-22 deficit at halftime and tied the game at 32-32 following a 3-pointer by Thompson with 15:24 remaining in the game.
However, the Mountain Lions responded with a 6-0 run and were able to hold off the Falcons down the stretch.
Virginia Scott led Young Harris with 15 points.
The Falcons will return home to host Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference game Saturday, Jan. 17.
Tip-off at Trustmark Arena is set for 1:30 p.m.
