HOW IT HAPPENED

Tuskegee freshman Joshua Culver rebounded a missed 3-pointer by Elijah McMillan and put it back in with just under two seconds remaining in the game to lift the visiting Golden Tigers to a 53-51 win over the Falcons in a non-conference contest.

The game was tight throughout the early stages of the opening half before a breakaway dunk by senior Bryant Orange gave Montevallo a 21-13 advantage with 6:39 remaining in the first half. A free throw by senior Terrell Lipkins gave the Falcons a 24-16 lead with 4:06 left in the opening half.

Tuskegee closed the half with a 11-5 run to trim the Falcons' lead to 29-27 heading into the locker room at the break. Camden Foster capped the run with a layup with two seconds remaining in the first half.

The Golden Tigers took their first lead in the second half since the early moments of the game following a pair of free throws by James Eads with 16:32 remaining in the second half, which gave Tuskegee a 32-30 lead.

A jumper by senior Malik Fields moments later put the Falcons back on top, 34-32, before a 3-pointer by Foster gave the Golden Tigers a one-point advantage with 14:40 remaining. Tuskegee stretched its lead to 43-36 following another 3-pointer by Foster with 7:58 remaining in the game.

Montevallo responded with a 8-0 run and took a 44-43 lead with 6:01 left in the second half following a layup by senior Tevin Worthy.

A dunk by James Eads gave the Tigers a 46-44 lead with 4:47 remaining and the Golden Tigers held on down the stretch. A timely 3-pointer by Orange with 29 seconds left tied the contest at 51-51 before Culver's putback in the final seconds sealed the victory for Tuskegee.

A desperation heave by Orange at mid-court at the buzzer fell short.

STAT OF THE GAME

Tuskegee finished 10-of-14 (71.4 percent) from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, the Falcons finished 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) at the charity stripe.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS

Orange scored in double figures for the second game in a row, marking the first time he's reached double figures in back-to-back contests since the middle of last season.

Lipkins dished out eight assists for the second consecutive game, marking the first time a player has registered eight or more assists in back-to-back games since former All-American Troran Brown did it early last season.

UP NEXT

The Falcons will face off against Tuskegee again in six days as Montevallo faces the Golden Tigers on the road Tuesday, Nov. 24. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
