HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo took a 3-0 lead early in the game with three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Dane Hutcheon reached on a double to right-center field and senior Jeremy Hyde reached on a walk before senior Taylor Walker blasted a three-run home run to the deepest part of the field in center field.
West Alabama responded quickly with seven runs in the top of the second inning to take a 7-3 lead.
The Tigers scored six more runs over the next four innings to extend their lead to 13-3.
The Falcons plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to trim the West Alabama lead to 13-6. Junior Matthew Furuto, who led off the frame with a walk, and freshman Tyler Krabbe, who was hit by a pitch in the frame, both came around to score on a two-run double to left-center field by senior Chase Bryant. Bryant then scored later in the inning on a RBI single up the middle by junior Daniel Pardo.
Montevallo added one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the Tigers' lead to 13-7. Walker, who reached on a single up the middle, came around to score RBI single to left field by sophomore Chad Wagner.
West Alabama plated two more runs in the top of the eighth inning to push its lead to 15-7.
The Falcons trimmed the West Alabama lead to 15-10 with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Montevallo benefitted from three errors by the Tigers in the frame as Bryant and Hutcheon both reached on fielding errors. Pardo, who reached on a double to down the left field line, and Bryant both scored on an error and Hutcheon scored later on a RBI infield single by Furuto.
The Tigers scored the final two runs in the game in the top of the ninth inning.

BEYOND THE NUMBERS
Senior Taylor Walker blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning for his sixth home run of the season. Walker is currently tied for the lead in the Peach Belt Conference in home runs with John Mangum of Lander University.
