HOW IT HAPPENED

After giving up a couple of free throws to Young Harris to start the game the Falcons took the lead with five straight points from Jacquelyn Thompson. Montevallo held the lead in the first period and never relinquished it the entire half. The Falcons led by as many as six points and ended the period with a 22-16 lead.

In the second period the Falcons increased the lead to as many as seven points before the Mountain Lions started to inch their way back into the game. At the 4:01 mark in the period Young Harris tied the game at 29-29 but the Falcons were quick to retake the lead. RayVon Christian made back to back layups to give the Falcons a four point lead late in the period. Montevallo closed out the half leading Young Harris 35-31.

In the third period the Falcons led by four points, 37-33, and then went ice cold. Montevallo failed to score another basket in the period as Young Harris went on an 18-0 run to end the period with a 51-37 lead over the Falcons.

In the fourth period the Falcons started to find their shooting rhythm but it wasn't enough to overcome the poor shooting performance in the third period. The Mountain Lions led by as many as 23 points before ending with the 70-51 victory.

Thompson led the Falcons with 17 points and also recorded a pair of assists and a rebound for Montevallo.
