BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Montevallo softball team lost their opening game of the Tiny Laster Softball Tournament to Alabama State 9-1 on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Falcons gave up 14 hits and nine runs in their first meeting with the Hornets.
• Montevallo's lone run of the game came in the top of the sixth inning off of a Shelby Lopez homerun to centerfield.
• Jocelyn Rivera got the start in the circle for the Falcons in today's contest.  Rivera pitched five innings and gave up seven runs.

STAT OF THE GAME

Lopez went 2 for 3 with a homerun and had the team's only run of the game.

The Falcons will play against Mississippi Valley State and Grambling State tomorrow as a part of the Tiny Laster Softball Tournament.  The Falcons first game against Mississippi Valley State will begin at 11am at the Shea Brothers Softball Complex in Irondale, Ala.
