GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) released its Division II Softball Academic All-District team, with Five Falcons being named on the list.
Taylor Lloyd picks up CSC Academic All-District honors for the third consecutive season. The Soddy Daisy, Tenn., native graduated in December with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and a 3.91 cumulative GPA. She currently posts a 4.00 GPA in pursuit of a Master of Business Administration. Lloyd made history this season, becoming the Montevallo all time leader in wins and strikeouts. She was named First Team All-GSC and D2CCA Second Team All-South Region, while also being named on the NFCA DII Pitcher of the Year watchlist.
Bentlee Stiner picks up CSC Academic All-District honors for the third consecutive season. The Chattanooga, Tenn., native graduated in December with an undergraduate degree in Exercise and Nutrition Science and a 4.00 cumulative GPA. She currently posts a 4.00 cumulative GPA as she pursues a Master's in Secondary Education. Stiner became the all-time RBI leader for Montevallo this past season and finished the season ranking top-15 in the Gulf South Conference in RBIs, runs, and triples.
Mya Young earns this award for the first time in her career. The Paxton, Fla., native posted a 3.81 cumulative GPA while earning a degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Young closed the season strong, highlighted by a combined 11.2 scoreless innings against then-No. 7 AUM and then-No. 14 West Florida. She was credited with the win in Montevallo's 2-0 victory over the Warhawks – the highest ranked win of the season.
Emma Hawkins captures this award for the first time in her career. The Hoover, Ala., native posted a 4.00 cumulative GPA in pursuit of a Family and Consumer Sciences degree. Hawkins finished the season tied for first in the GSC in sacrifice bunts (12), while also becoming the all-time sacrifice hits leader for Montevallo. The center fielder posted a solid .988 fielding percentage in 57 games played.
Kinsley Byrd earns this honor for the first time in her career. The Brewton, Ala., native posted a 3.82 cumulative GPA in pursuit of an Exercise and Nutrition Science degree. Byrd was solid in the circle, ranking top-15 in the GSC in wins, ERA, and opposing batting average. The sophomore tossed six complete games and three shutouts.
