HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Falcons plated two runs in the top of the fifth inning to take the lead in a 5-4 win over Mississippi Valley State in their first game of the day, with a RBI sacrifice fly by sophomore Kelsey Vining driving in the game-winning run.
• Vining also had a RBI triple in the top of the third inning against Mississippi Valley State as Montevallo plated a pair of runs in the frame.
• Junior Jocelyn Rivera earned the win in the circle in the opener after allowing two earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts and three walks in a complete game.
• Montevallo scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning in the Falcons' 8-0 win over Grambling in the nightcap, with Vining highlighting the frame with a two-run triple to left field.
• Vining blasted a solo home run to center field as the Falcons' plated two runs in the bottom of the second inning against Grambling.
• Senior Rachael Conley homered to left field in the bottom of the third inning against Grambling.
• The Falcons secured the 8-0 shutout on a RBI single by freshman Autumn Birtcher in the bottom of the sixth inning.
STAT OF THE DAY
Senior Jana Kelbie Armstrong and freshman Abbey Pratt combined to pitch a three-hit shutout in the nightcap with four strikeouts.
