HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning on a RBI sacrifice fly by Lake Hart.
- The Falcons took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning when junior Matthew Furuto led off the frame with a single and scored on a RBI groundout by junior Dane Hutcheon before freshman Tyler Krabbe, who also reached on a single, scored on a RBI double by senior Jeremy Hyde.
- Columbus State plated three runs in the bottom of the third inning and took a 4-2 lead on a RBI single by Blake Edwards with an error by the Falcons allowing the final run to score in the frame.
- Montevallo scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, with junior Dominic DeVille scoring the first run in the frame when Krabbe was hit by a pitch, and took a 5-4 advantage on a two-run single up the middle by Hutcheon.
- The Falcons extended their lead to 7-4 with two more runs in the top of the fifth inning on a RBI sacrifice fly by senior Thomas Bradey and a RBI single to left field by Furuto.
- The Cougars trimmed the Falcons' lead to 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning on a RBI sacrifice fly by Christian Miller.
- Montevallo pushed its lead to 9-5 with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning on a two-run single down the left-field line by senior Chase Bryant.
