AUGUSTA, Ga. – University of Montevallo senior Javonte Douglas was named a first team All-Peach Belt Conference selection, while junior Jamaar Taylor was named a third team All-Conference pick.
The pair became the 10th and 11th Montevallo men's basketball players, respectively, to receive postseason recognition since Montevallo joined the conference prior to the 2009-2010 season
Douglas is one of 50 finalists for the Bevo Francis Award recognizing the top small college basketball player in the nation. Douglas, a four-time Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week selection, led the conference in three separate statistical categories.
Douglas averaged a conference-high 24.2 points per game and a conference-best 11.3 rebounds per game to go along with a conference-leading 46.5 percent (40-of-86) shooting from beyond the arc. Douglas is the only player nationally in NCAA Division II to be ranked in the top 10 in both scoring and rebounding. Douglas finished in double figures in scoring in every game he played in and posted a conference-leading 14 double-doubles this season. Douglas scored in double figures in all 22 games he played in for the Falcons this season.
Jamaar Taylor averaged 16.1 points per game and 4.9 rebounds per game for the Falcons. Taylor, who posted three double-doubles this season, shot 49.8 percent (144-of-289) from the floor and 79.9 percent (131-of-164) from the free-throw line. Taylor's 131 made free throws ranked him third in the conference in free throws made this season. Taylor scored in double figures in 23 of the Falcons' 27 games this season.
