HOW IT HAPPENED

With the game on the line in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Falcons' Daniel Pardo connected for a single up the middle to score the game-winning run. Pardo's walk-off single lifted the Falcons to a 6-5 victory over the #21 Cougars.

Montevallo scored first in today's game on a towering homerun by Caleb Ledbetter that cleared the right center field fence to give Montevallo a 1-0 lead after two innings of play.

The Cougars wasted little time in taking the lead back from the Falcons in the top of the third inning.  Columbus State plated a pair of runs to take a 2-1 lead over Montevallo.

Columbus State's lead was short lived as Chad Wagner gave the Falcons the lead on a two-RBI homerun to left field.  The Falcons capped the scoring in the third inning with a RBI single from Ledbetter that gave Montevallo a 4-2 lead.

In the fourth inning, the Cougars tied the game at 4-4 off a two-RBI single into right center field.

The Falcons retook the lead again in the bottom of the fourth inning on a wild pitch that brought Ryan Brooks across to make it a 5-4 ballgame.

The Cougars pushed the game to a full nine-inning affair when they tied the game in the top of the ninth inning on a single into centerfield.

In the ninth inning, the Falcons walked off for the second time this season with a Pardo single to score JD Roberts and seal the upset victory.

Anthony Porter got his first start of the season and threw a solid 5 1/3 innings and only allowed four runs on seven hits.  Porter also recorded four strikeouts in today's outing.

Tanner Koch threw 2/3 of an inning in the victory and allowed one hit and struck out one batter.

Colton Nussel (1-2) earned the win in today's game and allowed just one run on two hits.  Nussel also recorded two strikeouts in the victory.
