HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons and the Warhawks faced off in game two of their series on the road in Montgomery, Alabama.
Montevallo got on the board early in the top of the second inning off a sacrifice fly from Daniel Pardo that scored Tyler Guesnard and gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the inning, the Warhawks put up seven runs to take a 7-1 lead over Montevallo.
Auburn-Montgomery plated two more runs in the third inning to increase their lead and made it a 9-1 ballgame.
Montevallo started their comeback rally in the fourth inning by bringing in four runs to trail the Warhawks 9-5.Â
The Warhawks and the Falcons traded runs later in the game as Auburn-Montgomery maintained a 10-6 lead. The Warhawks scored their run in the bottom of the fifth, while the Falcons plated their run in the top of the seventh.
Auburn-Montgomery added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth and held off the Falcons for an 11-6 victory.
Jesse Ellefson (0-1) started on the mound for the first time this season for the Falcons. Ellefson threw 1 1/3 innings and gave up four runs on one hit.
Seth Johnson entered the game in relief and gave up three runs.
Tanner Koch was the most effective pitcher in the Falcons bullpen, going 5 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on two hits.
Drew Mullinax finished off the game on the mound and threw the final inning and allowed one run on two hits.
