HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons and the Warhawks met in the rubber match of their three-game series on Sunday, March 05 in Montevallo.

The Warhawks got out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-RBI double that snuck down the left line and into the corner.

The Falcons knotted the game up at 2-2 in the second inning off a home run from Sebastian Samuels that cleared the left field fence and also brought in Tyler Krabbe.

Auburn-Montgomery's pitching staff held the Falcons scoreless for six innings, while the Warhawks' offense added five runs to their lead.  Auburn-Montgomery scored a trio of runs in the top of the fourth inning and also plated a run in the fifth and the eighth innings to make it a 7-2 ball game.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Falcons started to rally back and plated three runs to pull to within two runs of the lead.  The Falcons started off the game with a pair of singles to put runners in scoring position.  Tyler Guesnard doubled to left field and scored Dom DeVille for the first run of the inning.  Daniel Pardo and Mathew Furuto both doubled into left center field to each score a run.

The Falcons headed into the final frame trailing the Warhawks 7-5 but were unable to get any closer as Auburn-Montgomery held on for the victory.

Kale Latorre (2-1) got the start on the mound for the Falcons and threw 4 1/3 innings and gave up six runs on as many hits and struck out three batters.

Anthony Porter, Colton Nussel, and Jake Posey all entered the game in relief for the Falcons and combined to strike out three batters.
