HOW IT HAPPENED

Alabama-Huntsville got on the board early in today's game with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning.
The 2-0 Chargers lead was short lived as the Falcons began to roll early in today's game. Montevallo cut the lead to 2-1 when the Chargers walked Matthew Furuto to plate Tyler Guesnard.
The Falcons took the lead in the third inning and didn't look back. Montevallo hit back-to-back-to-back doubles to start the inning. That trio of doubles gave the Falcons the go-ahead run when Tyler Krabbe drove in Caleb Ledbetter to give the Falcons a 3-2 lead. A pair of wild pitches later in the inning brought home two more runs to give Montevallo a 5-2 lead over the Chargers.
Montevallo scored three more runs in the fourth inning to lead the Chargers 8-2, with two runs coming off a Sebastian Samuels two RBI homerun into left field.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Chargers made it an 8-5 ball game after scoring three runs in the inning.
The Falcons came back in the bottom of the seventh with four runs of their own. Three of those runs came off the bat of Furuto who hit a moonshot into right centerfield. Furuto's three RBI home run helped lift the Falcons to a 12-5 lead in the seventh inning.
In the eighth inning, the Falcons plated six more runs to take an 18-5 lead into the final frame.
The Chargers scored three runs in the ninth inning but were unable to overcome the double-digit deficit in today's 18-8 victory for the Falcons.
Justin Whitley started today's game for the Falcons and threw 1 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on two hits and struck out 2 batters.
Jake Posey (1-2) entered the game in relief and earned the win for Montevallo. Posey tossed four innings and recorded two strikeouts and only allowed one hit.
Drew Mullinax, Colton Nussel, and Zach Thompson each pitched in today's contest and combined to strikeout two batters.
