HOW IT HAPPENED
The Falcons and the Lions faced off in a pitcher's duel in their second meeting this season with North Alabama walking off in the bottom of the ninth inning with a 2-1 victory.
North Alabama took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning when the Falcons walked in a run on a two out and bases loaded situation.
Montevallo responded in the top of the fourth inning with a run of their own on a solo homerun from Caleb Ledbetter. Ledbetter's homerun knotted the game at 1-1.Â
Both teams were held scoreless until the ninth inning when North Alabama's Kyle Hubbuch singled to plate the winning run and seal up the 2-1 victory.
Jesse Ellefson started the game on the mound for the Falcons and threw 2 2/3 innings and only allowed one run and struck out two batters.
Zach Thompson tossed the most innings for a Montevallo pitcher in tonight's game, throwing three innings. Thompson allowed just one hit and struck out one batter in his outing.
Jake Posey entered the game and threw one inning of work.
Drew Mullinax (3-1) was credited with the loss and went 1 1/3 innings and allowed three hits and one run.
Jamison Roney saw 1/3 inning of action and allowed the game-winning hit.
