HOW IT HAPPENED

The Falcons and the Mountain Lions opened up their three-game series on Friday afternoon.  Montevallo cruised to a 24-8 victory in game one against Young Harris.

With the game knotted up at 1-1 after the first inning, the Falcons' bats came alive in the second frame.  The Falcons plated six runs to jump out to an early 7-1 lead in the top of the second inning. 

Montevallo scored runs in every inning of today's game except the third and sixth frames. 

Holding a 16-4 lead in the ninth inning, Montevallo plated eight more runs to increase their total to 24.  Young Harris plated four runs in the ninth inning as the Falcons closed out the 24-8 victory.

Jamison Roney (2-3) got the start in game one for the Falcons and threw six innings of work to earn his second win of the season.  Over his six innings, Roney struck out six batters and gave up four runs on six hits.

Drew Mullinax entered the game in relief and tossed the final three innings and struck out two batters in today's appearance.

STAT OF THE GAME

Sebastian Samuels and Matthew Furuto led the team in RBIs with Samuels knocking in seven runs and Furuto driving in five.

Samuels' six hits in tonight's game sets a new Montevallo record which was previously five hits in a game and was held by multiple players with the most recent being Tyler Krabbe in the 2016 season.

The Falcons and the Mountain Lions will wrap up their series with a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 12:00 pm CT on Saturday, April 15.
