HOW IT HAPPENED
Montevallo and USC Aiken met for game two of their three-game series on Saturday afternoon.Â
The Falcons struck first and plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Daniel Pardo drove in a run when he hit into a fielder's choice to score the game's first run. A three-RBI home run by Tyler Krabbe scored Caleb Ledbetter and Pardo as the Falcons took an early 4-0 lead.
The Pacers then held the Falcons scoreless for the next six innings. During that time, USC Aiken scored six runs to take a 6-4 lead over the Falcons.
In the eighth inning, the Pacers scored a pair of runs to take a four-run lead (8-4) over the Falcons.
The Falcons pulled to within one run of the lead off a Sebastian Samuels home run that made it an 8-7 ball game.
The Pacers scored an insurance run in the ninth inning off a sacrifice fly to seal up the 9-7 victory.
Anthony Porter got the start on the mound for the Falcons in today's game. Porter threw 3 2/3 innings and allowed four runs and struck out two batters.
Kale Latorre (3-3) entered the game in relief and tossed 3 1/3 innings and gave up three runs and struck out two batters. Latorre was credited with the today's loss.
Colton Nussel pitched the final two innings and surrendered two runs.
