BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team defeated host Birmingham-Southern College 8-1 in a non-conference match Feb. 23.
The Falcons improved to 6-1 on the season with the victory.
Freshman Petter Dahlin defeated Jacob Weinacker of Birmingham-Southern 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 1 singles' match. Sophomore Jan Fraederich topped the Panthers' Jamie Bekaert 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Freshman Daniel Del Val took down Anthony Pellegrini of Birmingham-Southern 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman James Bloomer (UM-M) defeated the Panthers' Lee Thompson 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Freshman David Tanguy topped Alex Wisener of Birmingham-Southern 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match. Freshman Brecht Van Buggenhout edged the Panthers' Charlie Rowe 6-2, 7-6 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Freshman Sergi Martinez and Del Val fell to Pellegrini and Weinacker 8-6 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Dahlin and James topped Bekaert and Thompson 8-3 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Freshman Milan Ludlage and Van Buggenhout defeated Rowe and Wisener 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, Feb. 28 with a match on the road at Georgia Southwestern State University.
