Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team picked up its second win in three days after sweeping Spring Hill College 9-0 on the road Feb. 4.
"It was great to see our guys challenged today," said Montevallo men's tennis coach Adam Albertsen. "We played well in doubles and had great fight at the number one spot. The guys carried that over into singles' play and had a solid performance."
Freshman Georg Trompler defeated Cedric Nitz of Spring Hill 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles' match. Freshman Petter Dahlin topped the Badgers' Ricardo Pena 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles' match.
Sophomore Jan Fraederich took down Kurt Shiell of Spring Hill 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Daniel Del Val defeated the Badgers' Chris Mines 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 4 singles' match.
Freshman Sergi Martinez topped Andrew Risley of Spring Hill 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 singles' match. Freshman Gavin Salton defeated the Badgers' Ferdinand Amanor 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 singles' match.
Del Val and Martinez edged Nitz and Lars Bajohr of Spring Hill 9-7 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Freshman James Bloomer and Dahlin defeated Shiell and Pena 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles' match.
Freshman Brecht Van Buggenhout and Trompler swept Mines and Risley 8-0 in the No. 3 doubles' match.
The Falcons will return to action in their first Gulf South Conference match on the road at Christian Brothers University on Sunday, Feb. 11. in Memphis, Tennessee.
