Montevallo defeats NGU 7-2 in non-conference match

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team defeated North Greeville University 7-2 in a non-conference match March 16.

The Falcons improved to 10-2 on the season following the victory.

Sophomore Jan Fraederich picked up his 10th win of the season in singles' play after defeating Alejandro de la Torre of North Greenville 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles' match.

Freshman Petter Dahlin topped the Crusaders' William Greaves 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles' match. Freshman Daniel Del Val fell to Dion Nijboer of North Greenville 4-6, 7-5, 3-10 in the No. 3 singles' match.

Freshman Sergi Martinez knocked off the Crusaders' Yannis Moulod 6-2, 3-6, 10-7 in the No. 4 singles' match. Freshman Tanguy David fell to Pierre-Olivier Bedard of North Greenville 2-6, 1-6 in the No. 5 singles' match.

Freshman Gavin Salton defeated the Crusaders' Giacomo Garini 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles' match.

Del Val and Martinez Nijboer and Garini 8-6 in the No. 1 doubles' match.

Freshman James Bloomer and Dahlin topped Greaves and Bedard 8-7 (7-5) in the No. 2 doubles' match, while freshmen Brecht Van Buggenhout and Milan Ludlage de la Torre and Moulod 8-7 (7-5 in the No. 3 doubles' match. Conference Carolinas starts the tiebreaker at 7-7 in doubles' matches.

The Falcons will return to action Sunday, March 18 with a match on the road at former Peach Belt Conference foe Augusta University.
