AUGUSTA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team fell to host Augusta University 5-4 in a non-conference match March 18.

The Falcons fell to 10-3 on the season.

Freshman Petter Dahlin provided the highlight for the Falcons after knocking off a nationally-ranked singles' player in a 7-5, 6-4 win over the Jaguars' Patrick Oliveira in the No. 1 singles' match. Oliveira is ranked No. 10 in the latest ITA NCAA Division II singles' rankings.

Sophomore Jan Fraederich defeated Alan Vilaro of Augusta 6-0, 2-6, 5-2 when his opponent retired in the No. 2 singles' match.

Freshmen Sergi Martinez and Daniel Del Val topped Martin Hurtado and Vilaro of Augusta 8-5 in the No. 1 doubles' match. Dahlin and freshman James Bloomer defeated Jose Cobo and Oliveira of Augusta 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles' match.

The Falcons will return to action Wednesday, March 21 on the road at the University of West Alabama in a Gulf South Conference match.
