Falcons fall to nationally-ranked West Alabama 7-2

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team fell on the road at nationally-ranked University of West Alabama 7-2 in a Gulf South Conference match March 21.

The Falcons fell to 10-4 overall and 2-3 in Gulf South Conference play following the setback against the Tigers, who are ranked No. 21 nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) NCAA Division II team rankings.

Freshman Petter Dahlin provided the highlight for the Falcons after knocking off Julius Kaverinen of West Alabama, who is ranked No. 11 nationally in the latest ITA NCAA Division II singles' rankings. Dahlin edged Kaverinen 2-6, 6-4, 10-2 in the No. 1 singles' match.

Freshman David Tanguy picked up the Falcons' other win in the match after defeating the Tigers' Anton Lof 6-2, 5-7, 10-8 in the No. 5 singles' match.

The Falcons will return to action Sunday, March 25 with a Gulf South Conference match on the road at Delta State University.
