CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team edged host Lee University 5-4 in a Gulf South Conference match April 11.

The Falcons, who are ranked No. 9 in the latest NCAA Division II South Region rankings, improved to 14-5 overall and 6-4 in Gulf South Conference play with the victory. Montevallo won four of the six singles' matches against the Flames.

Freshman Georg Trompler defeated Jake Okines of Lee 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles' match. Sophomore Jan Fraederich topped the Flames' Igor Schattan 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles' match.

Freshman Daniel Del Val took down Bruno Medeiros of Lee 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 4 singles' match. Freshman Gavin Salton clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win over the Flames' Jordan Knott in the No. 6 singles' match.

Freshmen Petter Dahlin and James Bloomer defeated Daniel Prata and Schattan of Lee 9-7 in the No. 2 doubles' match.

The Falcons are scheduled to return to action Saturday, April 14 in their final home Gulf South Conference match of the regular season. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
