Falcons close regular season with 5-1 win over Mississippi College

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team closed out the regular season April 13 with a 5-1 win over visiting Mississippi College in a Gulf South Conference match.

The Falcons improved to 15-5 overall and 7-4 in Gulf South Conference play following the victory.

"This is a really nice win," said Montevallo men's tennis coach Adam Albertsen. "We hope to take the momentum into the GSC Tournament next week."

Sophomore Jan Fraederich defeated Marcos Rocca of Mississippi College 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles' match. Freshman Daniel Del Val topped the Choctaws' Jose Gonzalez 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles' match.

Freshman Tanguy David took down Max Nilges of Mississippi College 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5 singles' match.

Freshmen Petter Dahlin and James Bloomer defeated the Choctaws' Lucio Menezes and Nilges 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles' match. Freshmen Georg Trompler and Brecht Van Buggenhout topped Sanders Barrick and Petar Damjanovic 8-6 in the No. 3 doubles' match.

The Falcons will return to action Thursday, April 19 in the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Tournament at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Alabama. The match against an opponent to be determined is set for 9 a.m.
