Falcons end season with 5-0 loss to defending national champion UWF

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Montevallo men's tennis team fell to defending national champion University of West Florida 5-0 in the semifinals of the Gulf South Conference Tournament on April 20 at Lagoon Park.

The Falcons wrapped up a historical first season back on campus in 38 years with a 16-6 overall record and the program's first ever NCAA Division II South Region ranking with a No. 9 ranking in the region.

Montevallo fought hard in doubles' play, with freshmen Daniel Del Val and Sergi Martinez falling to Serdar Bojadjiev and Lucas Sanchez of West Florida 8-4 in the No. 1 doubles' match.

Freshmen Petter Dahlin and James Bloomer fell to Alfonso Castellano and Nicholas Springer of West Florida 8-6 in the No. 2 doubles' match. Freshmen Georg Trompler and Brecht Van Buggenhout fell to Juan Cabrera and Nicolas Lecoutre 8-2 in the No. 3 doubles' match.

Freshman Georg Trompler dropped the No. 2 singles' match against Serdar Bojadjiev of West Florida 6-0, 6-0. Freshman Daniel Del Val dropped the No. 4 singles' match against Juan Cabrera of West Florida 6-1, 6-0.
