MONTEVALLO, Ala. – University of Montevallo Athletic Director Mark Richard has named University of Montevallo Women's Soccer assistant coach Jake Wyman as the next head coach of the program, with former head coach Robert Lane resigning to join the University of Georgia Women's Soccer program as an assistant coach.

Wyman has served as the Falcons' assistant coach for the past three seasons, culminating with the team's run to the Gulf South Conference championship match for the first time in more than a decade during the 2018 season.

"Jake was heavily involved in the success of our program under Robert Lane," said Montevallo Athletic Director Mark Richard. "He knows our University, our student-athletes and our culture. Jake will continue to put our women's soccer program in position to make a significant impact in the Gulf South Conference and our region. We're excited to have him as our head coach."

Wyman has helped the Montevallo Women's Soccer program advance to the conference tournament in two of the past three seasons. The program is coming off a 10-win season, its first since the 2008 campaign, and earned a United Soccer Coaches Association NCAA Division II South Region ranking during the season for the first time in six years.

"I am thrilled to be named the next head coach for the Montevallo women's soccer program," Wyman said. "This program and these players have been incredible to work with the past three years and I am eager to continue to build on what was a successful 2018 campaign. I would like to say thank you to Dr. John Stewart and Mark Richard for their trust in me to continue to serve the Athletics Department."

Wyman joined the Montevallo Women's Soccer program with eight seasons of previous collegiate coaching experience, as a student assistant coach at Lander (2008-11) and a volunteer assistant coach at Austin Peay State University (2011-14) before arriving at Montevallo in the fall of August 2016.

Wyman has also served as the Director of Coaching for the Clarksville Soccer Club in Clarksville, Tennessee, and holds a United States Soccer Federation B License and a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Goalkeeping Diploma.

Wyman, a Bradenton, Florida native, competed in men's soccer at Coker College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in exercise science in 2008 before also earning a bachelor of science in physical education and K-12 teacher certification at Lander University in 2010.
